I look up
And I’m blown away
With no idea you’d burn so bright
Ice on pitch navy
Needles through velvet
Letting the life shine through
So long spent staring down
And up is where I find you
Casting your gaze
Letting it fall on me
Star dust and memories
Your face only echoes
No detail left to recall
You told me you’d hold in starlight
And that’s where I’d find you
When I needed you
And I do
Tonight
I dare to look up
And you’re there
Shining bright
As you always would
And the long shadows cast
Hold me
A cool embrace
But held
Until morning
When you fade
There still but your brightness
Saved until night when I’ll need you once more
