Colouring Inside The Lines

When you finally broke that mould
You were not prepared for such freedom
Was that what tied your wrists
Behind your back
Was it the bonds
Or a fear of being loose
Awash and at sea
Colouring inside the lines
Brought comfort
Avoiding the cracks in the pavement
A sense of control
But throwing the paint at the wall
Bare hands
Up to your elbows
Brought abandon
It aligned you to the random
The constant buzz of life
Around your ears
Caution to the wind
And an open heart
Bred growth
And you reaped
And reaped
Your soul never
Knowing hunger again
