On Missing You

You come to me
In that slice of time
Between waking
And sleep

That twilight middle
A breath on my neck
A cinnamon cloud
Just off our radar

Fingers finding only air
But for a fraction
Of a fraction
The world is as it was

You lie beside me
Your curve fitting mine
Then a question mark
The S shaped dent in the bed

And I sink down
Waiting for sleep to take me
So that I might see you again
If only in that dark

Before morning
Steals you again
