Never Unseen

Once you’ve seen It can’t be unseen

Like stepping out of the deepest pool
First weightless
To sudden leaden Limbs no longer bidden

You long for the days of then
When blinkers shielded
And saved you from the worst
Only letting extremes Through the chinks

Now you see all
And everything
The systemic abuses
The violence
The exploitation
The inequality

And the hate
The never ending
Ever evolving hate

And so much more damning
You see the inaction
The turned cheek
The change of subject
The glossing over

A comfortable elite
Living in a bubble
Power theirs
Do not act
Will not act

Happy
In their complacency
And their complicity
